Bio

Jules Gabriel Verne (February 8, 1828 - March 24, 1905) was a French author and a pioneer of the science-fiction genre. Verne was noted for writing about cosmic, atmospheric, and underwater travel long before air travel and submarines were commonplace and before practical means of space travel had even been devised.

Vernian Process is a musical collective, founded by Joshua A. Pfeiffer in 2003. Josh released 2 self-produced albums before being contacted by Martin Irigoyen who joined as an official member of the project in November 08'.

Shortly after Bassist "Peter Zarate", Guitarist/Violin player "Ash", "Piano/Keyboard player "Heather Yager", and drummers "Ron Andonico" and "Free" joined throughout 2009. Cellist, "Erica Mulkey" (aka. Unwoman) is a frequent guest in the bands live performances as well.

In 2006 Josh began work on the band's current release Behold the Machine. When Martin joined in Fall of 08', the two of them decided to completely overhaul the album in Martin's studio, "The Sound Alchemist's Laboratory". Currently the album is scheduled to release in November 2009.

Vernian Process' musical influences range from Post-Punk/New Wave, Classic Industrial, Darkwave, Deathrock, Trip-Hop, Dreampop, Cabaret, Neo-Classical (and many more) filtered through a dimly lit Victorian lens. At times, epic, militant, and mechanical. While equally pastoral, serene, uplifting and positive when it needs to be.

Vernian Process attempts to address collective human issues in the context of a dark, and whimsical 19th Century setting.

Peter "Janus" Zarate:

Bassist Peter Zarate came aboard Vernian Process in August 2009 from the metal quintet Letters to Ruin. As the youngest member, with influences spanning progressive rock to electro-industrial, he strives to harmonize his edgier playing style with the essence of steamwave. But you might want to maintain a little distance when he starts thrashing about – he is known to jump off stages….

Coming Soon

Heather Yager:

Heather began working with Vernian Process in early 2009, collaborating on keyboard material for their upcoming album Behold the Machine.
Before moving to the Bay Area, she could be seen performing with circus sideshows and theater troupes in tiny cities throughout the northeastern U.S.

Erica Mulkey:

Also known as Unwoman, cellist Erica Mulkey joined Vernian Process as a live performer in 2008. Having also performed with Rasputina, Voltaire,
Jill Tracy, and others, Erica welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with the steamwave pioneers, as she'd known Josh from the San Francisco
music scene for nearly a decade. Unwoman performs solo often in the Bay Area in addition to playing with many other artists.
